Hot on the heels of his surreal treatment for the 2023 Semi Permanent opening titles, CD Filipe Carvalho teams with Untold Studios to set a gritty/ominous tone for Paramount’s spy thriller “Special Ops: Lioness”.

Filipe Carvalho: “We wanted to paint a picture of what it’s like to be at war, feel the dust in the air and the hot sun on your face, and really capture those details through atmospheric imagery.

“Working with the wonderful photography, shot on location by war photographer Lynsey Addario, it became a matter of elevating those shots to their best cinematic potential. Bringing them to life using CG, compositing, projection techniques, and animation to work up our desired look and feel for the sequence.”

Untold Studios EP Luke Colson: “Having worked with Taylor Sheridan on the main titles for Yellowstone, 1883, and The Mayor Of Kingstown, we knew he likes to see the cast in his opening titles, which makes them unique but also challenging.

“The opening also needed to set up the premise of the series, the crossover between action in the field, and the outside world, a juxtaposition of the carnage of war, and the money that drives it.”
