Director/animator Matt Smithson: “A mostly improvised animation to a beautiful rendition of ‘Tenderly’ by [Dutch composer, pianist, and scientist] Roland Tempelaar from the upcoming album New York Chapter.

“The goal was to keep it abstract and non-narrative. There are undertones of feelings of leaving a place that means so much to you, in this case, NYC.

“An overall visual game plan was put together, however, most of the animation was improvised to the music.”
