CDs Bianca Sangalli Moretti and Gianluca Patti, who met at art school in Italy, just dropped us the launch film for their Florence-based animation/illustration studio NORA, an energized flurry of design styles designed to showcase their “desire for discovery”.

Bianca and Gianluca: “The production of the short started with the two of us at a small table on the veranda in our small garden and ended upo with a crew of 15! As the project took shape we told friends about what we were doing and they always wanted to be a part of it. We wanted to harness all of Nora’s souls by using different visual styles, going from a more traditional aesthetic to a time when textures and pencil marks take over.
 

“We tried to create a narrative that tells a bit of our story and our desire for discovery. At the same time, we wanted to showcase our stylistic adaptation abilities without ever hiding the enthusiasm and purity of those who are at the beginning of a new journey.”

 
“Nora is a changing entity conceived to represent our new studio focused on design, illustration, and animation; the launch video was created to be the manifesto of our journey and what we aim to outline in the future. As a mutable entity, Nora is a mascot with many personalities representing the primordial need for discovery in the world of creative production for advertising and represents all the knowledge we have acquired and will acquire in the future.

It wasn’t easy to combine such different styles to make them all seem like faces of the same coin.

“Realizing a self-produced project like this has consolidated the awareness of how effective and synergistic teamwork is fundamental to achieving a good result and somehow wants to tell something that is changing and evolving in the world of visual communication.”
