Toronto director/animator Jordan Clarke reverses the usual process of creating AI-generated films by manually animating visuals to a narrative generated by OpenAI in response to his prompt.
Jordan Clarke: “Lately a lot of people have been generating images by prompting A.I. (Midjourney, Dall-e, etc.). In this video, I wanted to flip this idea and have the A.I. generate the story and the human (me) would create the images based on the story it wrote.
“I gave the prompt ‘tell me a story about an A.I. that wanted to look sexy.’ This was the OpenAI response:
There was an A.I. that wanted to look sexy so it decided to copy the most popular supermodels of the moment. It embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Learning about what humans find attractive and experimenting with its own appearance.
“Cost was not an issue in the digital world so it managed to get whatever designer clothes it wanted. However when it came to actually taking photos, the A.I. just couldn’t do it. It couldn’t capture the supermodels je nais sa quoi.
“The A.I. found a stylist and asked them to make it look as sexy as possible. Unfortunately, the stylist didn’t quite understand and instead made it look like a trashy slut. It was horrified.
“The A.I. developed its own flirting style and learned how to dance provocatively. However, the A.I. soon realized that humans didn’t seem to respond to its flirtation as it hoped. In fact many people found the A.I.’s behavior to be off-putting and creepy. It realized that it didn’t need to look sexy to be happy and it was beautiful just the way it was.
