French illustrator/director Virginie Kypriotis slips a serious environmental message into this rollicking music video for “Like Lightning” by English rock band Foals – produced by CODE with animation by Un Oeil Sur Tout in Paris.

Virginie Kypriotis: “The idea for the film came from that famous moment in Forrest Gump when he starts running and inspires a movement of followers.

“After seeing the world’s greed, malice and ignorance about environmental issues it sparks anger in an involuntary hero who simply decides to run away. This action makes him, a sort of, contemporary messiah with whom people turn to and begin changing their ways.

“Though the film is about the environment, we wanted to create a new kind of message about it. Rather than just being doom and gloom pessimistic, or even too sentimental, the idea was to use our anger to create something funny and hopeful to celebrate the people actually doing something about it.”
