With the 2022 World Cup fading from our collective memory, it feels like the right time to relive the best bits, and the motion crew at Alchemy in London help us do just that with this witty, glitchy, and frenetic film for FIFA.
Alchemy EP Andrew Milner: “After working with FIFA in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup, we were delighted to be asked to produce a World Cup Wrap video for the FIFA+ media channel.
“Delighted, but also slightly apprehensive as we could only work on the video during the four weeks the games were taking place and would need to build the video as things progressed.
“We started off by working on look dev, spending a few weeks before the tournament playing around with different treatments before ultimately settling on visuals inspired by video games, VR, and the digital world to appeal to FIFA’s target audience. Once agreed, we created as many assets as we could in preparation for the big kick-off.
“Once the tournament got underway we had daily catch-ups with the FIFA team as we poured over the match footage to pick out highlights and select what we would drop into the edit. The end result brings a slightly alternative, two-minute take on Qatar 2022.”
