Craft x Innovation: Woodwork Amsterdam Drops Manifesto Film for Wilson Labs

Following on their two stellar films for the Wilson Airless basketball, ECD Marv Koppejan and the Woodwork Amsterdam crew build out a manifesto film for Wilson Labs, emphasizing the division’s focus on blending craft with innovation.

ECD Marv Koppejan: “While you might expect sports innovation to be a high-tech, clinical process, we discovered that it’s actually deeply rooted in craftsmanship and human ingenuity. Of course, machines and data are essential tools, but ultimately it remains a people-driven process.

“It was important the story not only felt technically accurate, but also human and relatable. That principle guided our approach to visuals, editing, and sound design.”

“We wanted to capture that authenticity: the maker’s hand, the craft, the pursuit of perfection. It was important the story not only felt technically accurate, but also human and relatable. That principle guided our approach to visuals, editing, and sound design.

“The film spans multiple sports, but what connects these disciplines is a shared ambition: to create the best possible product to empower the athlete. That same belief sits at the core of how we work at Woodwork Amsterdam: we aim to help brands perform at their very best, by crafting thoughtful, visionary products.

“Visually, the film is a blend of live action featuring athletes and makers, infographics, and CG. We highlight the technical side, from CAD files to data visualization, but always in an inspiring and accessible way.”
