In their latest work for Samsung, the GIANTSTEP crew teams with fellow Seoul studio Sticky Monster Lab to build out a joyfully over-the-top world to showcase accessories for a selection of the client’s smart phones and earbuds.

Jaeil Sim, VFX executive officer at GIANTSTEP: “Through the Samsung Friends lineup, Samsung aims to offer not just functional accessories like cases and straps for their products, but also to bring a sense of individuality and joy into everyday life by collaborating with diverse IPs and artists.
 

“The ‘Monsters’ evoke both the indifference and cuteness reminiscent of modern people, breaking away from the monotony of daily life and transcending boundaries.”

 
“In this project, under the theme of ‘Tiny Wonders,’ we captured delightful and surprising moments, depicting the significant changes that can be conveyed through the compact accessories of Samsung Friends, all within the surrealistic design universe of Sticky Monster Lab.

“The ‘Monsters’ evoke both the indifference and cuteness reminiscent of modern people, breaking away from the monotony of daily life and transcending boundaries, all expressed through lighthearted 3D animation techniques.

“To create a sense of lifelike vibrancy, we used detailed animations that reveal the personality of each monster, combined with an overall ‘80s vintage mood, making the characters more relatable and endearing. The bustling yet minimalist urban landscapes, small props, and posters that fill the monster rooms were carefully crafted through close communication with director Choi Lim.”
