Vladislav Solovjov Finds “Purity” in New Short Film

Starting with a single line, London-based creative director Vladislav Solovjov builds his latest personal CG exploration Purity into a complex series of shifting and lyrical and compositions.

Vladislav Solovjov” “This time, I wanted to focus on the simplicity of one single element, a line. While working on the project, I was thinking about how I could animate ‘abstract art’ and retain minimalistic compositions.

“I spent days moving cameras, playing around with lens settings, and adjusting animations to better visualize my vision for each shot. I tried to push the boundaries of a spline as an object and elevate what you can do with something that simple.

“The biggest surprise for me was the lighting and how I managed to fake shading and texturing using complex light systems. This unusual method helped me control the color palette across all the scenes. All I needed to do at the end was to bring some extra magic with compositing and grading. That being said, I enjoyed exploring the beauty of minimalism — the pure art in the making.”
