Director Quinten Delahaye leads the design and animation crew at German studio Sehsucht into a brooding merger of alchemy and mystery in these opening titles for the Bump Festival of creativity in Belgium.
From the team at Sehsucht: “We wanted to tell an epic story in a minimal way. The festival’s theme ‘Under Construction’ led us to the use of the classical architectural concept of Isaac Newton’s Cenotaph, a monument proposed by French architect Etienne-Louis Boullee in 1784.
“This project gave us the opportunity to try our hand at the powerful tools that Blender and its real-time Eevee render engine offer.”
“Re-imagining the Cenotaph’s look, function and location, and connecting it to Newton’s own alchemy hobby, gave us this story of mystery, loss and rebirth.
“This project gave us the opportunity to try our hand at the powerful tools that Blender and its real-time Eevee render engine offer. The non-photoreal treatment and implementation of a grease-pencil style solidified the unique, Moebius-inspired look that we wanted to achieve.”
