Celebrated documentarian Errol Morris and The Mill VFX crew work with forensic artists to recreate two young men who wonder what their lives would be like today – if they hadn’t been killed in distracted driving accidents.
From The Mill: “We worked closely with the creatives and the director to craft the hero talent to look as much like forensic images of both boys as possible, ensuring the images were believable and not over-manipulated.
“Using a series of planer trackers and distort shapes, the team carefully changed the shape of their faces to bring the footage of the actors closer to the generated image of Forrest and Caleb.
“Lighting also played a big part in this project. By lifting shadows or creating highlights, the team was able to sharpen and soften features to obtain the final image.”
The spots were created for Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
