It’s only fitting that a creative event like no other feature an opening sequence like other. Hence this one-minute performance by a frazzled feline from BAFTA-winning Scottish animator Will Anderson for Pictoplasma 2023.

Will Anderson: “For this opener I wanted people to witness the birth of a character coming into existence. Pictoplasma is the best festival ever, and they asked me to make a kind of meditation with my hairy feline friend, Greg, so I just squashed the two ideas together which could only mean one thing at the end… The world collapses in on itself.

“It was made entirely in Blender, and mainly used motion capture for the facial animation and most of the body. In all, I produced it in five days, which is pretty damn quick.”
