Working with Freestudios in Geneva, London-based Turkish director/artist Onur Senturk transforms the latest limited-edition masterpiece from Swiss luxury watch and clock maker MB&F into a desert-bound piece of kinetic architecture.
Onur Senturk: “A watch and a house are different machines. But the Machines of MB&F are habitable; the stories they tell locate us in different places or different times, and sometimes different worlds. It could be said that an MB&F machine is not worn; it is lived.
“With its latest creation, the HM11 Architect, MB&F further blurs the line between watchmaking and architecture. Combining the intricate design of the watch with a real environment, immediately gave the film an iconic look – paying homage to great sci-fi and sci-fantasy films like Dune, and Star Wars. With the addition of the character, the story gained another perspective, the discovery of a temple of time.
“In a considerably short production schedule, the team utilized real-time VFX and structured VFX at the same time. Matching the intricate materials and look of the HM11 was another challenge to overcome during this project.”
