After being struck by Riho Makise’s 1993 hit “Miracle Love” online, Chinese visual designer and 3D artist Zaoeyo committed to making a project “based on the song’s mood and seeing how far I could achieve realism in that ‘city pop’ style.”
“The process to achieve this look is so challenging for me, I looked into lots of references and try to get not only a photoreal render but also a unique style. Also, I created a character to interact with the dreamy CGI world.
“I invested so much time on the visuals and don’t have the energy to make a film, so I decided to make it karaoke-style and keep shots steady, so that we can see the lines, and have weak editing connection between shots, focusing on showing the city and the mood.
“This is a non-commercial project for self-practice and took me four months to finish.”
