Paris prodco Jungler and Belgian director Renaud Lavency take on the delicate task of representing the harsh reality of disability discrimination in the work place with the hope provided by European charity LADAPT.
From the team at Jungler: “The style of animation was chosen to create a more poetic treatment of disabilities, introducing a dreamlike world that takes us out of the main character Emma’s reality and highlights her daily struggles against the judgment of her coworkers.
“The reality of disability is thoughtfully represented, while addressing the main subject: the fight against discrimination.”
“In the campaign, Emma has congenital transverse agenesis, meaning she was born without her left arm. So, the animation team had to adapt her actions to someone who can only use their right hand: holding a piece of paper, using a printer, shaking hands, and so on.
“For each of these actions, Jungler worked closely with LADAPT and the agency BETC, who advised us on the realities of living with a disability. Thanks to this teamwork, we produced a campaign where the reality of disability is thoughtfully represented, while addressing the main subject: the fight against discrimination.”
