Born in Northern Italy and now based in Helsinki, Finland, Lucas Zanotto started out as a product designer before moving into motion design, directing, building zany apps for kids, and most recently CG character loops.
Zanotto’s latest work is a personal project that incorporates his talent for generating smiles with a new pipeline that includes 3D animation and music composition.
Lucas Zanotto: “As a product designer, I always really enjoyed building models and focusing on textures, shapes, and colors. When I moved on in my carrier towards film making, I tried to keep this analog element in my work.
“So my commercial and motion projects include a lot of tactile analog nostalgia which has nice mistakes in it and feels authentic.
“Lately I started looking into 3D software and noticed it is not that far from building things in real life. It also makes things often faster and the output is quicker.
“[This film] is a bit of a fun take on the hyper-realistic 3D loops happening all over social media. Most of the time, I start from a looping idea, and the feeling and emotions are a bi-product of the loop.
“I also started making the music for these loops and was so happy that finally, I found an output pipeline that is very effective and fairly quick, to deliver ideas.”
