Markos Kay Keeps Calm and Carries on in “Petal Drift”

London director/artist Markos Kay (whose organic motion experiments we’ve featured here), moves his work outdoors onto a multi-screen display in Cyprus positioned to be viewed from inside the patient rooms at a cancer hospital.

Markos Kay: “Petal Drift is a series created in collaboration with Nicosia agency Alternative Brains Rule and The Wall Gallery, inviting patients of the BOC Oncology Center into a moment of mental quiet, offering a gentle escape from the stresses of their daily lives.

“Living with a serious chronic illness condition myself, I have come to recognize the profound importance of peace and calm in managing adversity.”

“Living with a serious chronic illness condition myself, I have come to recognize the profound importance of peace and calm in managing adversity. With my work, I seek to provide a serene space where audiences can pause, breathe, and experience a sense of tranquillity.

“These sequences were created using 3D renders of particle simulations from my series Quantum Fluctuations, which were then abstracted into floral patterns using generative diffusion models.”
