Producer Jarrett Hothan at Demo Duck in Chicago: “We specialize in animation and over the years we have often partnered with local nonprofits, producing pro bono projects to help them further their mission.

“This film is a continuation of our partnership with 826CHI, a local creative writing, tutoring, and publishing center by bringing to life one of their young author’s poems. Finger Paintings was written by a teen author named Isabela, exploring ideas of nostalgia and how creative expression and freedom often feel tied to youth and dulled with age.

“Our team hosted Isabela and the 826CHI team for a VO session in our office, where she added her unique voice, emotions, and perspective to the read. We then brought Finger Paintings to life using colorful 2D animation and even elements of Isabela’s life as design inspiration.”
