With “In Hot Water”, NOMINT’s latest environmental epic for WWF premiering at COP29, the London studio continues to push the boundaries of stop-motion – this time capturing the animation entirely on a thermal camera.
Marilena Vatseri EP/managing director at NOMINT: “This is our fourth stop-motion film for WWF. After animating ice, fire, and smoke, this year we used cutting-edge thermal imaging to bring the heat of climate change to life. Every frame was captured in-camera, with each prop and 3D-printed character precisely heated to convey the visual story of our ocean’s crisis.
“Building on the success of the previous three films, which together have won over 50 gold awards worldwide — including the prestigious Grand Prix at Ciclope and a Yellow Pencil at D&AD — ‘In Hot Water’ continues NOMINT’s tradition of powerful, innovative storytelling.”
