If the purpose of a product film is to convey the essence and feel of that project, then this intimate and tangible new work from ManvsMachine (with DOP Jake Gabbay) for reMarkable is an unqualified success.
From the team at MvsM: “We teamed up with reMarkable to introduce their groundbreaking and highly anticipated new product, the Paper Pro – the most paper-like tablet in the world.
“We deliberately introduced handheld camera movements and played with the fidelity of our 3D renders, this felt fresh and exciting to us as so often we aim for the cleanest, crispest and most detailed export.
“The product has unrivaled tactility, it’s as much about the feeling as it is the technology behind it.”
“The product has unrivaled tactility, it’s as much about the feeling as it is the technology behind it. We wanted to push the analog aesthetic to find the sweet spot, making sure our grainy, ‘low’ quality and shaky textural 3D product shots made it into the campaign in one way or another.
“After meeting with the reMarkable team in Oslo and experiencing the Paper Pro for the first time, it felt natural that we should use film stock (16mm and 35mm) – for the live action elements of the campaign; The textures and ‘imperfections’ reflecting the rich, authentic analog look and feel of the device.’
