MakeMake (the studio composed of Rock Paper Scissors, a52, Elastic, Primary, JAX, Indestructible, & MakeMake Entertainment) is very excited to announce that Ben West has joined the studio’s team as a Creative Director.

Born and raised in Australia, Ben started his career as an Architect before bringing his creative and technical skills to the commercial and entertainment industries as a Visual Effects Supervisor. After joining Australian VFX house Animal Logic, Ben founded his own VFX studio (Robot), and in 2012 moved to the United States to join the team that opened Framestore L.A. as Head of CG and Visual Effects Supervisor. In 2014 he was named Creative Director/Director.

Expanding his knowledge of film-making, design and visual effects, Ben earned a Masters in Directing, and has directed films, as well as commercials for Radical Media and Framestore. He has also lectured at UCLA and SciArc for Fiction and Entertainment. His award-winning work encompasses hundreds of commercials as well as film, television, architecture, ride experiences, virtual productions and immersive projects, working with a long list of clients including Disney, Marvel, Universal, Netflix, Meta, Toyota and Apple.

Ben’s recent work includes Disney and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT and Comcast’s Universal Sphere, a collaboration with Steven Spielberg which was nominated for a Visual Effects Society award in 2020.
