Former Digital Domain VFX producer David Ziek (Tron, X-Men: First Class) launches the new VFX division of bi-coastal editorial/graphic/audio shop Nomad as EP.
From the release:
Global post-production studio Nomad diversifies its offerings with the launch of a robust visual effects and finishing division to be led by Executive Producer David Ziek. An industry veteran, formerly of Digital Domain, Ziek has worked on feature films including Tron and X-Men: First Class, and commercials for high profile brands such as Nike, Microsoft, and Mercedes-Benz.
With the latest technologies in place, and a team of highly skilled artists spanning three global offices – Los Angeles, New York, and London – the studio is equipped to take on projects of any scale from simple finishing work to much larger VFX productions. As Executive Producer, Ziek will be responsible for bringing in a wide variety of projects and overseeing them from bidding through post.
On the production side, Ziek will be responsible for streamlining the existing pipeline and leveraging resources from all offices to increase efficiency and better position Nomad to take on more creatively demanding projects. He is also tasked with customizing teams across all the offices to fit specific projects. The studio is currently working on projects with some of the most well-known production companies and agencies in the industry including, Pulse Films, Media Arts Lab, Big Spaceship, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
“I’m really excited to be here helping Nomad launch their VFX division,” notes Ziek. “One of my favorite things about the company is its scalability. We certainly have the resources to tackle any size job, but at the same time, we’re still a small shop that gives personal attention to each project. All jobs are priority jobs.”
Prior to Nomad, Ziek spent five years as a VFX Producer at Digital Domain. From 2005 to 2009, he served as Senior Vice President at Pangea Pictures.
