Tactic Appoints Drew Weigel as Head of Production

From the release:

With a growing roster of clients to its name, Tactic has brought on Drew Weigel to oversee a variety of exciting new media projects and manage client relationships as Head of Production. Weigel relocated from his East Coast position as Head of Post Production at m ss ng p eces to join the Tactic team in its San Francisco office.

At Tactic, Weigel is excited to work on projects that implement new, groundbreaking technology in the VR and AR space. Since starting at Tactic, Weigel has already produced one of Tactic’s most talked-about projects ever: the Living Wine Label app for Treasury Wine Estates, which has grown to over 1M users worldwide. Employing AR technology, the app brings wine bottles with great stories to life, beginning with 19 Crimes and The Walking Dead wines.

“Having had a close relationship with Tactic in the past as a client, I knew what the team was capable of from the start,” Weigel says. “But even in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve seen their capabilities advance, especially in the mobile technology category where we are crafting innovative AR pieces. There’s no telling what other crazy stuff Tactic will be able to cook up, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Tactic President Peter Oberdorfer adds, “The addition of Drew to Tactic’s team will be a huge asset as we continue to work on projects that push boundaries and create one-of-a-kind experiences for VR and AR users. I knew of Drew’s excellent work ethic and talents having collaborated with him in the past on some of our favorite purpose-driven storytelling projects and his history with other impressive studios speaks for itself. We are incredibly grateful to have his knowledge and skill on our side.”

During his time as Head of Post Production at m ss ng p eces, Weigel worked closely with Tactic on projects such as Water is Life and Heineken’s Plus Pool, as well as with clients such as Microsoft, Facebook, and Oculus. Weigel also won a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Technical Achievement for his work on the VR documentary experience, “Follow My Lead: The Story of the 2016 NBA Finals.”

Prior to m ss ng p eces, Weigel worked with clients like Google, Nike, and Verizon as producer at R/GA’s content studio. He found his niche as a producer at Charlex in New York where he worked hand-in-hand with clients to ensure the streamlined production of a wide range of VFX and CG.
