Sensor.Graphics Zooms Out in “Exploded Views” Short Film

Sensor.Graphics, a new and anonymous US-based design and motion studio, just slipped onto the Stash radar with their submission of this intricate and intriguing CG experiment “depicting the present and future of technology.”

From the team at Sensor.Graphics: “Exploded Views is a reflection on the topic of accelerating development of technology. Inspired by the Powers of Ten film by Ray and Charles Eames, we imagined a complex structure with many nested layers that was developed together with industrial designers.

“Our team is built with the idea of deliberate anonymity – we are designers who spent many years in the industry and decided to build a new brand that would be more research-oriented.”

“The project depicts a speculative hardware structure assembling from its smallest parts to the large mega structures. Including many components and functions, it is a complex system of sensors, circuits, coolers, and connectors packed together following a sophisticated design language.

“The design of the speculative device became our main creative challenge and required several weeks of iterations to get it right. The idea was to create a futuristic minimalist system that would have various possible functions.

“Our team is built with the idea of deliberate anonymity – we are designers who spent many years in the industry and decided to build a new brand that would be more research-oriented. For us, every collaborator becomes a part of our team, and we believe that great results can be achieved through combining various skills and backgrounds.”
