CHICAGO – (May 21, 2019) – Continuing its growth and its investments into excellence, design-driven production company Sarofsky is adding Senior 3D Designer/Animator Jake Allen to its full-time staff. The news was announced by company Principal and Executive Creative Director Erin Sarofsky, and Creative Lead Duarte Elvas.
Jake spent five years as a staff 3D Artist and Motion Designer for Odd Machine prior to going freelance late last year. Based on his mastery of software such as Maxon Cinema 4D, Autodesk Maya, SideFX’s Houdini and Next Limit Technologies’ RealFlow, Sarofsky was quick to enlist him on major projects for Verizon and Fiat/Chrysler. “Jake’s expertise in his craft and his attention to detail were crucial to the success of those first projects,” Duarte explained.
“Essentially, he made himself indispensable the minute he got to the studio,” Erin added with a smile. “Not only did he crush the jobs we brought him in for, his energy has infused the office with a lovely vibrancy. Jake does things with positivity and the firm belief that anything is possible… which aligns perfectly with our studio’s ethos.”
A Chicago native who graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2011, Jake’s passion for creative problem solving is evident in projects for companies like Caterpillar, Huawei and Michelob, and non-profits like Teach For America. His new opportunities shaping up at Sarofsky span brand marketing and entertainment, as well as mentoring and training. In fact, June 8-9, Jake will join company 3D Artist Tanner Wickware in leading the Sarofsky Labs Weekend Workshop set to focus on 3D Motion Graphics, Design and Animation.
“First and foremost, Sarofsky defines itself as being design-driven,” Jake pointed out. “The focus on design is very attractive to me, as I feel it produces more thoughtful, powerful and creative work. Sarofsky also really values people, and takes a wonderful attitude toward work-life balance. That trickles down to all other parts of the company, and fosters an environment where we can produce our best work together.”
According to Duarte, everyone at Sarofsky is excited about what Jake brings to the table in furthering the company’s capabilities in CG. “A very talented designer and animator, Jake is also extremely knowledgeable in fluid and rigid body dynamics, and in photorealistic texturing and rendering techniques,” he said. “Not only does he fit in perfectly as a key member of our team, he’s actually opening some exciting new doors for us all.”
