Clayton Welham, CD at Found: “This project enabled us to cross the age-old tradition of capturing a person’s likeness with contemporary imaging technologies to investigate the point at which we see something familiar in an image.
“Having a project that required us to step into the worlds of neural science, AI recognition systems, and how we compute the world and people around us has been timely and very insightful.
“Found captured head and shoulder models of several members of the team using LiDAR scanning data. These formed the base from which we could explore ways in which to draw, sculpt and render facial details. Once drawn, physical materials were assigned to the models and they took shape as a series of portraits.”
