Glasgow design and motion studio Playdead stepped into the limelight at the 2020 Scottish Design Awards last week, winning the Grand Prix as well as designing this opening sequence for the event’s awards night.

Playdead CD/Founder Kevin McCrae: “In early August, we were approached by the Scottish Design Awards and asked to create the visuals package for the online awards ceremony. This is the first time the Awards has been held online and so we were honored and, of course, said yes.

“They needed everything from transitional stings, to logo animations, to an introductory sequence. We were given complete creative freedom and so we came up with a design that would encapsulate all elements of the design industry in Scotland, from architecture to interior design, to digital and graphic design, and everything in between.

“We wanted to showcase the incredible talent we have here in Scotland and we hope we did the industry proud.”
