Not To Scale Signs Director/Motion Designer Matthias Hoegg

From the release:

Not To Scale are overjoyed to announce that director and motion designer Matthias Hoegg will be re-joining their formidable roster. Previously represented by Not To Scale until 2017, Matthias is a director defined by his versatility and ingenuity, with a sincerely-held belief that personality is the heart of all motion, whether animating a loading bar or a global ad campaign.

Hoegg has spent the last seven years on an odyssey of design, working with leading agencies like Wolf Olins and DixonBaxi to craft visual languages and motion design systems for world-leading brands like ITV, Warner Brothers Discovery, Samsung, and Google TV. The rigour and structure of the branded world charmed Matthias, especially the breakout moments where it’s possible to dial up the volume in the storytelling, as he did in the air graphics and bumpers for the ITVX rebrand. When it comes to directing shorter animated formats alongside Not To Scale, channeling this design thinking will be utterly invaluable.

Projects of Matthias and Not To Scale previously include commercials, documentaries and interactive projects for clients such as the BBC, Ford, American Express, Channel 4 and John Lewis. With over 15 years of experience in animation, Matthias has garnered numerous honours, including an ADC Young Gun, a British Animation Award, D&AD Pencils, and a BAFTA Nomination to name a few.

Director Matthias Hoegg had this to say: “As a director, Not To Scale has helped me tackle the big leaps in my career so far and I’m excited to join forces once again. Whether it’s a nimble charity commission or big ad campaign – Dan and the team have been a huge support and a great sounding board, helping me tie up many loose ends in the story and assembling small but mighty teams to deliver it. I look forward to getting our next projects off the ground and into eyeballs around the world.”

Dan O’Rourke, founder and EP of Not To Scale, added: “I’m delighted to welcome a Director of Matthias’ experience back onto our roster. His sabbatical in the world of branding and motion design adds another facet to his skills as a filmmaker, and what’s more it’s wonderful for the London studio and our clients to have him back in the fold.”
