French 3D motion designer Fanny Rollot: “The Motion Motion Festival is a design event based in Nantes, France. This year, I had the opportunity to design the festival’s full identity including the trailer, the main branding, and other support visuals.
“I wanted to make something fresh where I could play a lot but also try to offer the festival a unique identity. And because the audience of this festival is mainly designers, I wanted to surprise them with something very different from the past years.
“The trailer starts with the festival’s logo, the Keyframe, flying into the frame. It explodes into parts, then the fun begins. Because as motion designers, we all know that our playground is hidden between the keyframes! Then, after a series of playful shots, the fragments finally reassemble into the 2023 Motion Motion type.
“I needed typography that could create big blocks when in 3D, so I could play with it. And Andrzej Wróż’s Forta font is perfect for that. I customized it a bit to add variation to the letters of the main title but also to bring a playful dimension to the other titles, categories, and names.
“Then, I chose a very saturated color palette to design strong and impactful images. As there is a lot of text to display, these colors are perfect for creating strong contrasts and good readability.”
