French VFX artist Kevin Cordier-Royer weaves live action and CG into a striking and whimsical fashion-first brand film for social coaching consultancy Lorr & Sens.
Kevin Cordier-Royer: “I love my job [in VFX] but, we must admit that our task is to hide the CGI. Successful CGI is not visible CGI.
“The idea of Louise is above all, is to try something new, to explore a new visual, a new aesthetic – to embrace the CGI and to erase the border between the real and the imaginary.
“The first challenge was that there wasn’t a lot of money. We used the furniture we found in the production studio for our sets. Our designer, Catalina selected objects from her house, friends houses and even mine. She also built typical Parisian walls. The rest of the objects were made later in post.
“Because of the lack of budget, we did the post in our free time. So, it took a long time and it was hard to stay positive and focused all the way long but the 2D and 3D teams were extremely creative and have been strong in every moment of the project which has been a great help.”
