Veteran Creative Director JM Blay Closes Blay Studio

From the release:

“Good News! I’m Closing My Studio!” After suffering a severe knee injury six months ago, creative director and visual artist JM Blay has undergone surgery and emerged with a new perspective on both his recovery and his career.

Following the surgery, Blay has used his time to reflect on his professional path, which has led to a significant change in direction. Having spent six years running Blay Studio and leading high-profile creative projects for top brands and studios, Blay is now stepping away from the demands of studio life to focus on directing freelance projects for other studios.

“I’ve decided to leave behind the hustle of running my own studio to dedicate myself fully to high-end motion design and 3D projects as a freelancer Creative Director for other teams,” Blay shared. “Occasionally, I’ll also explore more personal and artistic projects. Sometimes, you need to take a step back to see things more clearly.”

Blay’s career, spanning over 25 years, has seen him work on films like Guardians of the Galaxy, and Dungeons & Dragons, as well as major projects for brands like Netflix, Marvel, Rolex, and Samsung. Known for his expertise in motion design and 3D, he is excited about this new chapter.

“New chapter, new energy. Same knee… just upgraded,” he concluded.

Blay is now open to new collaborations and invites others in the creative industry to reach out: “If you want to create something fresh and exciting together, I’m all in”.
