Jack Bennett “Not the End of the World”

UK 2D animator Jack Bennett channels the universal complexities and awkwardness of first love in his newest personal film, the sweet seven-minute tale of a boy named Joe, Lily, several Molly’s… and Spiderman.

Jack Bennett: “I had been wanting to make a short film for a long long time without being able to fit it in. I couldn’t think of a concept I felt close enough to really commit to until my girlfriend told me about a one-day relationship from a school anecdote – it seemed like a great concept to jump onboard with.

“The heightened emotions of an early teen coupled with the fragile and naff nature of short-lived school-hood romances. As an extra bit of info, my girlfriend ended up voicing Lily Scott in the film, after colleagues fell in love with her in early animatics!

“One of the main challenges after actually writing the film was that it was mainly a weekend and evening project that I did after work and it became very difficult to take my mind off it and do my daily 9-5 work!”
