Even if you’re a fan of Dave (the FXX series centered on the exploits of rapper/comedian Lil Dicky, aka Dave Burd) you’re not fully prepared for the VFX-driven insanity of this two-minute season 2 trailer by MPC.

The highlight of the VFX work, created by a massive MPC team spread across several offices is the hapless 3D anteater character.

MPC creative director Rob Hodgson: “We worked in close collaboration with the production team to design an anteater rig for the talent to hold as we filmed, ensuring that the motion was constrained to the physical size of our 3D character. It also allowed us to position the anteater’s nose to properly sell the joke.”

MPC animation lead, Seong Joon Lee: “We tried to incorporate a human acting element into the anteater that expresses its unique natural features. The key was to determine the appropriate level of expression needed for each shot.”
