Working with brand consultancy Darwin & Verne, the new Madrid-based studio Blanco Void softly illustrates three timeless principles from Roman architect Vitruvius for Cosentino’s Pietra Kode Collection of designer surfaces.
Gonzalo Miranda: “In order to bring a contemporary twist to the three principles of Vitruvius (firmitas, utilitas, venustas, which translate to solidity, usefulness, and beauty) and highlight the premium materials, we used visual metaphors and grounded, stylized spaces.
“However, we also had to consider lighting as an important factor. By paying homage to the chiaroscuro lighting techniques of the past, we created enough contrast to guide the viewer’s eye, while still maintaining a modern feel.
“To showcase the premium materials, we had to ensure that every space was covered with Cosentino’s products. However, we also had to be mindful of striking the right balance, so that the materials did not become overwhelming or distracting.
“We aimed to make use of the subtlety of the material while still maintaining their essence and quality for those who paid attention to details. Through careful consideration and planning, we were able to seamlessly integrate the materials into the spaces, enhancing the overall aesthetic without overpowering it.”
