Boris Wilmot Keeps us Guessing in Opening Titles for “Vincent Doit Mourir”

Playing with your perception and expectations, Brussels-based designer/digital artist Boris Wilmot constructs a tense, slow-building open for director Stephan Castang’s black comedy thriller Vincent Doit Mourir (Vincent Must Die).

Boris Wilmot: “Stephan Castang wanted an abstract opening sequence inspired by the classic titles for Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Nortwest by Saul Bass. The sequence would introduce the urban universe Vincent is living in as well as question the viewer’s gaze. ‘What am I looking at?’ is the central question throughout the whole movie.

“With this sequence, built of abstract lines which make up a building with a thousand windows, I humbly attempted to do a contemporary rereading of the work of Saul Bass, based on the amazing music of French composer John Kaced.”
