The diverse roster of London’s Blinkink expands with the signing of Dublin native and Royal College of Art graduate Stephen McNally.
From the Blinkink site:
Stephen is a director who uniquely combines 2D, 3D and digital CG animation with his own caricature-like illustration, producing work as technically superb as it is moving. Documenting love, loss and everything in-between, his characters bring home universal truths, capturing humanity in a way in which everyone can relate to.
Hailing from Dublin, he sharpened his BA Graphic Design skills at RTE, bringing beautifully crafted idents, promos and award winning title sequences into Irish homes.
An Animation MA at the Royal College of Art gave Stephen the time to develop his ingenious style and produce an array of first class animations. Music video ‘Raspberry Cane’ garnered nods of approval from Rolling Stone, Vice and Vimeo Staff Picks, amongst many others. A psychedelic trip through an ethereal world populated by majestic monsters, it makes a perfect match to Youth Lagoon’s hypnotic hazy music.
Highly-evocative short film ‘Meanwhile’ is Stephen’s graduation masterpiece and is currently wowing festival audiences. It follows four different characters traversing the same city, but each lost in their own separate worlds. Using bold colour schemes and fragmented narrative it powerfully explores life’s trials and tribulations, from the everyday right through to the tragic.
