Take a peek at the making of three new animated spots from the Aardman team as they revive the unscripted stop-motion techniques they pioneered on Nick Park’s timeless (and Oscar-winning) 1989 short film Creature Comforts.
Directed by Aardman’s Rich Webber (Shaun the Sheep) the films represent the first half of a six-episode campaign and will appear across the BBC and screen in cinemas, on YouTube, and social.
Sarah Cox, chief creative director at Aardman: “We are very proud of our long-standing relationship with the BBC, so, we were delighted to revive our much-loved Creature Comforts’ format for this campaign.
“All the dialogue is unscripted and selected from real conversations with members of the public… that’s where so much of the warmth and the humor and the storytelling comes from.”
“The magic and joy of this type of animation is that all the dialogue is unscripted and selected from real conversations with members of the public from across the UK – and that’s where so much of the warmth and the humor and the storytelling comes from. The interviews inspire the Claymation animal character scenarios.
“The families in the films were found through the BBC’s audience engagement program, which interviews hundreds of people across the UK every year on their views about the BBC.”
