Ataboy and Ogami Launch XR Studio in Brooklyn

From the release:

Following a banner year continuing their growth trajectory, design-led content creation studio Ataboy is celebrating a new dimension to its capabilities with the launch of a state-of-the-art XR Studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in collaboration with Ogami Studios.

Ataboy entered this joint venture with a longtime trusted partner to develop a ‘creative lab’ armed with the latest and greatest equipment with the goal to bolster Ataboy’s presence as a leader in the food and tabletop photography space. Further expanding their storytelling capabilities, this collaborative environment will open the door for existing Ataboy directors and clients.

Key Studio Features:

Architectural Marvel: Spanning two floors and boasting a rooftop offering breathtaking views of NYC, Long Island City, and downtown Brooklyn, the in-house designed studio follows a modern style with birch wood, and black and white accents to accentuate a beautiful, minimalist Japanese-inspired feel

Cutting-Edge Technology: Equipped with the latest XR technology, including motion capture systems, VR and AR headsets, lighting and grip equipment: Arri Skypanels, Titan Tubes, Combi stands, C-stands, and a towering LED wall, the studio provides artists with the tools they need to unleash their creativity

Spacious Shooting Areas: With over 4,500 square feet of shooting space, including a 24-foot cyc wall, a kitchen studio for tabletop and food photography, and a dedicated client atrium, the studio offers ample room for artistic expression

Collaborative Environment: The XR Studio serves as a vibrant hub of collaboration, fostering connections between artists, clients, and industry professionals to inspire new ideas and push the boundaries of storytelling

Ataboy director Andrew Gooi shares, “Finding a studio space as brilliantly designed as the Ogami Stage is like discovering a hidden gem in the world of film production. This isn’t just any space—it’s a haven where the comfort of clients and crew is paramount. As a food director, I’m thrilled by the bright, spacious, and airy kitchen the food styling team gets to work in. This setup is a game-changer! After years of shooting in cramped, dark, and awkward studios, the value of an exceptional onset experience has never been clearer to me. The Ogami Stage is a breath of fresh air, and I know it will strike a chord with anyone who’s endured the long hours on less-than-ideal sets. It’s time for a change, and this is it!”

The new studio will allow Ataboy, as well as its clients, to create realistic and fully immersive experiences across the marketing, advertising, and entertainment industries that include: Victoria Beckham Beauty, SoundRaw AI, and FeyFey Worldwide. Over its 12 years of operation, Ataboy has also worked with a variety of global brands including: Apple, Dominos, Red Lobster, Google, and Coca Cola to name a few.

Ataboy is looking forward to the opportunity of having more accessibility and availability for directors. Parikh notes that, “The overall goal with this ‘creative lab’ is to be a hive of collaborative activities around production and technology. We wanted to launch a space to include a more human, interactive aspect to it so that it’s not just limited to production, but more of an all-encompassing production studio. We are looking at this as a long term commitment to celebrating culture and focussing on the growth of the company. We aim to nurture new relationships and facilitate exciting opportunities for existing talent.”

The partnership prepares for a summer 2024 grand opening, where it will be one of a handful XR studios in Brooklyn, inviting artists and enthusiasts to explore its cutting-edge facilities and experience the future of storytelling firsthand. Following the launch, Ataboy aims to continue to work on community projects to help build up future filmmakers. Additionally, they’re looking to teach workshops for creatives wanting to develop their skills in filmmaking, focusing on areas like virtual production, lighting, grip, camera, and acting. They also plan to collaborate with several other organizations to host events and promote food pop-up events in the courtyard all summer long.
