Ten artists, three months, 340 white shirts and 2,576 stain-painted frames later, Aardman and Kode Media prove “Dirt Is Good” for Persil laundry detergent in this painstaking stop-motion film thru Ogilvy & Mather, UK.
The process: paint on a shirt (with 28 forms of gunk from chocolate ice cream to pureed purple cabbage), photograph the frame, wash the shirt (with Persil), dry, iron, repeat.
Merlin Crossingham, Creative Director at Aardman commented, “At Aardman we have a history of embracing big challenges and when Ogilvy came to us with such an interesting project, we jumped in with both feet. The finished spots are playful stories with delightful characters, created in a truly unique way and we hope you enjoy them.”
