Having covered COVID-19 advice and a Christmas sing-a-long in his previous personal films, UK director/animator Andy Martin turns his 2D and stop-motion talents toward a humble YouTuber and his corrugated insights.

Andy Martin: “I was trying to think of the most mundane thing for a YouTuber to review and boxes came to mind. This is also nicely linked to unboxing videos which always seem so pointless yet compelling!

“I wanted the character to seem nervous/vulnerable. He’s putting himself out there, letting the public in on his very specific obsession. It’s a scary thing to do but he’s giving it a go, to spread the word on which box is good and which box isn’t so good.

“As always with these things, finding the time to make it was the main challenge. With this project, I did it in smaller episodes before putting it all together into one film.

“This also enabled it to develop as it went along and the little blue guy’s personality became a driving force as I made the later ones.”
